Girlfriend Love

Definition of FRIEND -   one attached to another by affection or esteem 

I do think I may have the best girlfriends in the world.

No, actually I know I do.

I have been one sad mamma since dropping my favorite boy at college.

I'm happy for him, really.

Sad for me, honestly.

My sweet friends have been so loving and caring.

I love the saying, A Friend is Family You Choose.

And sisters is it true.

Here are some of my treats.  My favorite passion fruit tea from Starbucks, Red Velvet Whoopie Pie, Starbucks gift card and the sweetest cards ever, an adorable sign of my blog, "Flip Flops in Florida".

We did it.

Well, we did it, we dropped Robert off at college this weekend.  

Tallahassee .

Have I mentioned before that 4 hours is a long way away.

His apartment is set.

His necessities are set.

His schedule is set.

However, his mother is NOT.

There were cable difficulities, internet difficulties, minor details with the apartment but it's all resolved.

I did really good saying goodbye and praying a lot on the drive home.

So far so good.

UNTIL we got home.....walked in the front door and had a total melt-down.

Nothing could prepare me for it.

I am excited for the new chapter in his life but I already miss him dearly.

I hoping and praying that it is going to get easier.

Moving Day

Tomorrow is moving day for Robert.

My dining room is full.

Wondering how it will all fit in two vehicles :)

I'm excited for him and in a selfish way sad for myself...and Steve and Savannah and Bella and Cookie.

We will all miss him dearly.

Pray for us all.

Just Do It

Savannah is back in school.

Steve is busy franchising his new business.

Robert is leaving for college.

This is going to be my new direction.

Hopefully occupying a lot of my time.

Wait with purpose.

My morning devotion spoke directly to my heart today.

"Avoid getting negative when you look at your circumstances.  Actively wait on God to give you strength to walk in the fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23) Wait with purpose, silently listening for Him to speak, eagerly watching for Him to act. Then watch for the opportunity to act godly as He give you strength to do so.

I helped a friend move her daughter into her apartment at University of Central Florida this week.  Much more involved than moving Robert into his apartment in Tallahassee NEXT week.  Tara's room is full :)  Robert on the other hand is "good" with everything I buy.  He is so easy to please.  His room will not be full of butterflies and girly things like Tara's but it will be perfect for him.

My heart is still heavy when I think about him leaving home in 8 days.  I am praying for a good college experience for him.  I'm excited for this next stage of his life but I cannot imagine living every day without him.  275 miles, 4 1/2 hours, that's a long way from home.

Robert will be leaving for college in 13 days.

BITTERSWEET

Happy for him and sad that he will be 4 hours away and not living in the same house.

How did 18 years go so fast?

I'm thinking that we should really start packing and possibly learn how to use the dishwasher, washing machine, and make coffee.

Nah, maybe tomorrow. 

Lasting Love

This is what 55 years of marriage looks like.  Happy Anniversary to the best parents a girl could ask for.  I love you mom and dad and had a great time celebrating with you.
